We will be pleased to arrange various entertainments during your trip. Often a Highland bagpiper will welcome you to your hotel on arrival and wish you a "Haste ye Back" when you leave. In the evenings, you may choose informal ceilidhs with local musicians and entertainers or the traditional formality of a Highland Banquet with a piping-in of the haggis, after-dinner speeches and Scottish country dancing.
Throughout the summer months, Highland Games are held right across Scotland. These are very colourful occasions with plenty of tartan, piping and Highland dancing. They also include "heavy" athletic competitions such as tossing the caber, hammer throwing, stone lifting and so on and attract serious semi-professional competitors from all over the world.
Our Malt Whisky Tastings are always very popular events with a lively, amusing talk washed down with a few samples of the subject in hand. Whisky Tastings may be held before or after dinner or may be held outside, perhaps on the moor or the hill. Many whisky distilleries welcome visitors and we will be pleased to arrange a tour if required.
Shinty, Scotland's national game, can be alarming to watch initially but you soon appreciate the great skill, courage, stamina and tactical manouvering that is involved. Originally a winter sport, shinty is now played from March through October in Scotland and is gradually being taken up in other parts of the world, notably California, Texas, Florida, France and New Zealand.
No sporting visit to Scotland can be complete without at least one round of golf in its ancestral home. Apart from all those acclaimed championship courses which regularly host top international competitions, there is an almost infinite number of lesser known courses, each with its own unique features and challenges - and often without the pressures, formalities (and expense) of the more famous names.
